Be careful!!
To use the Shipping Plug in, it requires you to log on to FedEx's site and generate a Zone File that lists the prices of mailed packages mailed from your stores ZIP. Simple enough, however.... FedEx does not supply this anymore (they insist on supplying you with a crappy pdf that does us no good). This effectively eliminates the FEDEX option for the shipping plugin. Does anyone have a working FEDEX zone file they can email to me? I may be able to assemble my own if I have an example to work from. Or does the .NET service we pay for under the shipping plugin have something worked out with FEDEX to generate ZONE files? OR does anyone know how to make this work accurately? -Clay |

You have to convert and save the .pdf as a text file or retype the .pdf into the text file format example provided after importing it into Excel to make things easier....which only takes about 15-20 minutes. Some folks have also contacted their local FedEx office and obtained an ASCII version of their zone file.

Hey Mike,
Glad you could help with suggestions. 1) I'm not sure that converting the PDF file generated at FEDEX to ASCII will work, as it has NO pricing data. It just defines ZIP Codes by zone. I think all it is supposed to do is serve as a Chart. Is that all that this plug in needs? A Chart? (I imagined it would be pricing) 2) Calling Fedex requesting an ascii file for a Zone got me a "We no longer support that option" answer. If you have a working Zone file in ASCII format, please email it to me. I just need to know how the data is set up. I may be able to insert some pricing data from other tables I found on their site and create a custom pricing table (If that is what this plug in needs). Thanks, Clay |
