At the end of the Order checkout process I’m getting this message:
The Microsoft SMTP Service is not installed correctly! Install this program on a server with the Microsoft SMTP service. Error # 429: ActiveX component can't create object |

Do you host your own site or are you running the cart on your own machine?

I have inherited this cart system. I wasn’t the one who installed at the first place. If I can’t figure out what’s going on with it I would have to strongly advise my client to move on with another shopping cart system. I have read the manual There are so many problems. I would appreciate if I could get in direct contact to you. My email is jasontate2004@yahoo.com Do you host your own site or are you running the cart on your own machine? I’m running the cart on my PC. But as I see this is the same message as my customers are getting on line. “The Microsoft SMTP Service is not installed correctly! Install this program on a server with the Microsoft SMTP service. Error # 429: ActiveX component can't create object” “It is very possible. You must first install the SalesCart server extensions though. Once you've done that, open localhost with FrontPage > Tools > Recalculate Hyperlinks. This will enable your SalesCart to work in the http://localhost/ environment. Type mismatch: 'FormatCurrency' means that the values being submitted are not what the checkpost.asp files is expecting. Did you add the '$' to the price field?” I’m already running Sales Cart in http://localhost/ environment. There is no “$” to the price field. This is a another one when I’m running sales cart checkout process in http://localhost/ Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0035) File not found /cgi-bin/checkpost.asp, line 23 Line 23 is: "Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(referPg)" It seems that every time I run on different problems. What would happen if I reinstall Sales Cart? Do I have first to uninstall completely from system and then install again? Then I’m guessing I would have to go again through Authorize.net process and setting up client credit cards procession and account. |

Okay, in IIS 5.1, which is part of Windows XP professional it will only support CDOSYS and not CDONTS. This means that you have to modify your shopping cart to work with CDOSYS. You'll find that Windows Server 2003 will result with the same error.
Solution: http://support.salescart.com/kb/KB-details.asp?key=5316 In regards to the checkpost.asp, try disabling zone alarm, see if that helps. I do recall an issue with the firewall software causing the cart not to work because the cart uses the file system. |

You set the currency symbol in the global asa file on line 215
You have to set the local for your site and you do this on line 133- the local is a number but if you run the wizard there is a neat drop down menu that tells you a country and you just pick the right one- in my case it's the UK so the local is set to 2057. From what I can read into your situation you have inherited a salescart website that has not been but together properly by the previous programmer. To get round your hosting problems you need to either A) get the ISP to work it through with you or B) get a new host. Does the salescart version you have work with ISS that's bundled with XP PRO? Yes it does- you have to set up ISS properly which is another issue totally. I've done it before. The SMTP error message is due to a fault with your ISS setup and nothing to do with salescart. The best thing you can do is read the manual a couple of times and then start out and build a small site from scratch- just make up the products and then publish this to either ISS or direct to a server- you need to get a handle on what's involved with salescart before you go too complicated. Salescart does work and you can run a viable online shopping site with it. In terms of support I have had salescart for ages- my priority support finished ages ago- but they will still help me with little problems that crop up- I've had an issue with shipping charges- turns out that I deleted some stuff which I shouldn't have- Will Sani gave me a couple of suggestions and I went of and fixed it within ten minutes. Do you have the URL of this site so I can have a look at it? |
