I'm obviously missing something, after 2 weeks of fiddling and
scouring the manual, I haven't gotten past the most basic steps...which as a professional developer is obviously infuriating. I've got SalesCart Pro 5 installed, FrontPage, created a new website, add Product Link. I fill in a part number and a description and price, click OK. Now, I recognize I'm actually just adding a link. So...how do I add the actual product? I'm assuming that the products are stored in shop.mdb, but the modification date isn't changing (I don't have MS Access so I can't open it to look at it). But in looking at the asp code in the cgi-bin folder, it looks like it actually keeps products in product.db? At what point/how does this get created? Why is it when I add a product link I get a little icon that says "SalesCart Component View On WebServer" and its code is <!-- webbot bot="shopadd" description="Light Bulb" units dynamicdb="FALSE" postpone_checkout="FALSE" discount5="0" discountpath="discountcode.gif" volume6 expire_date bid_path="BIDbutton.gif" volume1 prod_shipping prod_handling code4 cdiscount3 part="1234" size bid="FALSE" qtyimg="QTYButton.gif" price_path="auction.gif" discount3="0" price="5" divqty name="shopadd" volume4 code2 cdiscount1 demo="0" taxed="No" price_size="5" emailfriendpath="emailfriend.gif" weight requiresku expired="No" quantity="1" optionon="FALSE" discount1="0" discount6="0" payloadurl="None" freeqty upsell volume3 expire="FALSE" code1 emailfriend="FALSE" quantityon="TRUE" volume2 extratax auction="FALSE" price_min cdiscount4 merchantcode discount4="0" sameline="FALSE" upsellpath="related.gif" discounted="No" volume5 code3 cdiscount2 addimg="ADDButton.gif" optionsize="3" checkout="../cgi-bin/shop1.asp" expire_message codesize="0" buyqty includeon="FALSE" include="include.htm" optionname="option.gif" taxed2="Yes" discount2="0" PREVIEW="<img src="viewbot.gif" alt="View with a Web Server">" minqty --> |

By default your products are not stored anywhere but the product page that you're working on. And the code above is what stores the product information when you add a product link.
What you see in FrontPage is a "place holder" for the Quantity graphic, text box and the add to cart button. The code above is actually incomplete. You should go to FrontPage > tools > recalculate hyperlinks to ensure that your code is up-to-date. |
