Missing order numbers

There are missing order numbers between my ordered and abandoned order reports. I am concerned about the order numbers that don’t show up on my abandoned orders or ordered reports. Is there any resolution to this?

I've never seen missing order numbers. The order numbers are auto-incremented so even if a person leaves the site during the checkout, the order will still remain in the database unless if someone manually removes the records from the database.

Well the problem that I am experiencing for example is I received order # 52 and then my next order # that I receive is #60. When I view my abandoned order report it may only show order #'s 54 and 56 missing. So between order #'s 52 and 60 there are only 2 orders abandoned what happens to order #'s 53, 55, 57-59?

Yes, but I can add an item to the cart and that will increase the order number and unless if the customer is going through the checkout you're not going to see the order in the abandoned section. This means the customer would have to have entered some data before leaving the cart in order for it to become abandoned.
