Older SalesCart Software Products based on ASP and PHP to be discontinued.



AUSTIN, Texas (November 15, 2006). ComCity, creators of the popular E-commerce solution SalesCart, announced today that it will immediately discontinue several older products based on ASP and PHP scripting including SalesCart Standard, SalesCart PRO, SalesCart SQL and SalesCart-X software products. These product discontinuations coincide with the obsolescence of the Microsoft FrontPage product line.



With the introduction of ASP.NET 2.0, we no longer see ASP as a viable long term platform, ComCity will fully embrace the new ASP.NET technology with its SalesCart NET product link and future new product releases in the pipeline, said Michael Barber, ComCity CEO. For the time being, ComCity will also discontinue PHP as a supported scripting platform in its shopping cart products due to the popularity of the ASP.NET platform.



ComCity will discontinue all Free support, product enhancements and bug support for these older legacy products immediately. ComCity will however offer paid support for these products for a short term for existing software users.

If you have SalesCart Standard, PRO, & SQL, there is a $60 upgrade charge to the new plug-in. Note: we do not suggest you upgrade to this plug-in presently unless you are currently using LinkPoint or Bank of America as your preferred gateway.

LinkPoint Announcement

We apologize for the lateness of this release. ComCity only learned about 30 days ago that LinkPoint's support for the LinkPoint 5.4.3 dll would cease in preference to their new 6.0 implementation. Our development team, in a race against the clock, started creating transaction processing support for this new dll -- just 30 days ago. Our release 6 is an answer to this unscheduled update that we were not made aware of in a very timely manner. In addition, the current release does not contain a documentation update. We plan on making a minor release in 2-4 weeks to incorporate new documentation about these plug-in changes. We learned only about 3 months ago that Bank of America would discontinue their gateway in preference for Cybersource. However, Bank of America customers may request an extension of up to 1 year and continue to process through the old gateway. The Cybersource changes have also been incorporated in this 6.0 release.

If you have SalesCart-X, you may purchase LinkPoint v.6 as a separate downloadable plug-in as well. This plug-in is now available at the upgrade cost of $60. Cybersource updates for SalesCart-X will be available shortly.
